Yes. Nowts is free, with no subscriptions and no locked features. Optional AI works through your own OpenAI key, so you only pay your provider for what you use
Does my voice ever leave my iPhone?
No. Speech recognition runs entirely on-device. Your recordings and notes are never uploaded, synced, or shared
Does Nowts collect any data?
No. Nowts has no analytics, no trackers and no ads SDKs. There is no account, so there is nothing to profile — your notes and voice never leave your iPhone
Can I use my own API key?
Yes. AI runs on your own provider key, so your text goes straight from your iPhone to the AI provider you choose. Nowts does not receive, store, proxy, or log your AI requests
How do I get an OpenAI API key?
Sign in at platform.openai.com, open the API keys page and tap «Create new secret key». Then add a few dollars of credit in Billing — requests are pay-as-you-go, and a little goes a long way. Paste the key into Nowts settings — it is stored only on your device
How much does AI cost?
Nowts itself is free. AI features use your own OpenAI key on pay-as-you-go pricing — typical note edits cost fractions of a cent, so a few dollars of credit lasts months

No account, ever. Open the app and start talking — nothing to register, nothing to log in to
